With the 2024 Buick Encore GX still on the lineup, you might be asking yourself how exactly these two utility vehicles differ. Exterior Dimensions

Even though both vehicles are subcompact crossovers, one is still slightly larger than the other. As the Envista is the new entry-level vehicle, you might expect it to be the smaller option, but the truth is a little bit grayer than that. The Encore GX is 171 inches long, 71” wide and 64” tall, while the Envista is actually 183” long, 72” wide and 61” tall. So, while the Envista is shorter, it’s actually ever so slightly longer and wider.

Seating & Cargo

However, its larger exterior dimensions don’t translate to the inside, where it becomes apparent why the Envista is the entry level crossover. While both vehicles offer seating for up to five, the Envista has 20.7 cubic feet of space for cargo behind its rear seats while the Encore GX has 23.5 cu. ft. Dropping the rear seats, the Envista delivers 42 to the 50.2 cu. ft. of the Encore GX. So, if you’re looking for extra space, the Encore GX is the choice.

Powertrain

Looking solely at standard options, both the Encore GX and Envista are powered by the exact same engine. A 1.2L three-cylinder engine sits beneath the hood of each utility vehicle, generating 137 horsepower alongside 162 pound-feet of torque. The larger Encore GX, however, does offer an available upgrade. This is a 1.3L three-cylinder engine option that boosts performance to 155 hp and 174 lb-ft. of torque.
